Aaron LaCrate is one of those enigmatic cats that seem to manage to run things on both sides of the tracks. Growing up ‘down the hill’ in East Baltimore, he always pushed his passions to the next level whether it was DJing, skating or graffiti. Moving to NYC in his late teens he has been pushing Baltimore’s musical heritage on a worldwide scale, linking with clothing labels, brands and music industry types to shine a spotlight on a city that had always been a bit under the radar. If it weren’t for Aaron LaCrate, the Baltimore Gutter sound wouldn’t have reached the UK and we certainly wouldn’t have heard from Spank Rock or Amanda Blank. In the UK to promote his Bodymore Murdaland photography exhibition (yeah, he takes pictures too), RBMA Radio caught up with Aaron and his new signing Young Verb to find out a little more about Baltimore and Milkcrate Records.
