Randolph crafts authentic music. Influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Led Zeppelin, Weather Report and the Delta Bluesmen, Randolph has "never been happy staying in one place." Born in Philly as the son of a classical guitarist, he began playing out in bands ranging from Punk, Jazz Fusion, Reggae, Rock, Funk and Blues before receiving his driver’s license. As he matured, Randolph fell hard for the bass guitar, and honed his talent performing alongside a long list of esteemed acts including P-Funk, War, Brian Setzer and Buddy Guy. Spending his teenage years in Detroit, and graduating from Central Michigan University - at which point he focused solely on music - it was only a matter of time until he stumbled across the city's flourishing Electronic scene. Being introduced by it through a certain Mike Banks, he responded in under the performance name Van Renn. Amongst them stuff for Soul City, KMS or with Innerzone Orchestra, Recloose and As One. His own longplayer "This Is.. What It Is" on Kenny Dixon Jr.'s Mahogani Music imprint in 2004, propelled his explosive style to a global audience. Since then Randolph featured collaborations with Detroit musicians including Waajeed, Amp Fiddler and "Mad Mike" Banks as well as with Jazzanova, Wahoo, The Upperground Orchestra or as a solo artist for Still Music. A real man of Soul in all its epiphanies.
