It is almost impossible to make your way around Joakim these days. The Paris resident is a major figure in the French electronic music scene. Multi-talented, witty and well-cultivated, he has released three audacious albums on Versatile Records and is the founder of the prolific website and label Tigersushi. Always been involved in music, Joakim learned to play the piano at the age of six, with master concertist Abdel Rahman El Bacha. During his teenage years he discovered indie rock and just a little bit later he appreciated labels such as Warp and Mo' Wax. When a schoolmate once forgot his synthesizer in Joakim's room, things started to go very quickly. Albums and 12"s floated, Joakim became an in-demand remixer (with those for Max Berlin and Antena amongst his finest) and is soon found himself the forefront of the European club circuit. But Joakim would not be the intellectual he is, if that would be it. On his recent longplayer 'Monsters & Silly Songs' you could discover his rock persona in full bloom. A head too big for just one hat.
