DJ Patife was born and raised in Brazil's music and culture capital, Sao Paulo, and has spent most of his life living and breathing music. Patife's career really took off 1995, when the spread of jungle and drum 'n' bass reached Brazil. Patife was just beginning his residency at the infamous Arena Music Hall club in Sao Paulo, took advantage of his new musical home to expose the masses to drum 'n' bass. Although it did not catch on easily at first, Patife, along with close friends DJ Marky, DJ Koloral and others, relentlessly pushed the sound he loved and was determined to built the foundation for the local jungle scene. In 1999 he released a mix compilation for Brazil's Trama label, which became a huge success and went on to achieve five-figure sales. However, it was the release of the legendary 'Brazil EP' on V Recordings in 2001 that really put Patife on the map. DJs from all styles and genres, from Bryan Gee to Gilles Peterson to Laurent Garnier, picked up on his track 'Sambassim' with Fernanda Porto recognising it as a groundbreaking track both for Brazil's music scene and for drum 'n' bass as a genre. After releasing his solo album entitled 'Na Estrada' (Journeys), his reputation as a DJ shows no signs of diminishing and he continues to attract enthusiastic masses wherever he plays around the globe.
