Catherine Britton, better known as Cassy, was born in South London, England, to a Caribbean father and an Austrian mother. She started in the business of entertainment at an early age as a singer and an actress (training in London and practising in Vienna). However, after an early exposure to high quality electronic music on a stint living in Austria in her childhood, and an inability to shake off the beats subsequently, she embarked on her chosen career as DJ and producer. Not long after her first gig in Vienna she met Dave The Hustler in Geneva and they started working on a collaborative project for Mental Groove, rather imaginatively titled Cassy and Dave The Huster. Geneva was obviously the place to be at the time, as it was there that she also met Luciano and worked with him on a track for his album 'Blind Behaviour'. After settling in Berlin in 2003, and inspired by the club scene there, she started working with artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Mathew Jonson, Swayzak or Steve Bug, released on the highly regarded Perlon imprint, mixed the first Panorama Bar compilation, is part of the Cocoon family and runs her own label, adeptly named Cassy, for personal use.
