Born in 1981, Protoje nevertheless is enamored with both the music and the mindset of classic reggae. But then again, music history runs directly in the family for him, his mother Lorna Bennett a reggae icon herself, and his father Michael 'Lord Have Mercy' a former Calypso King in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Protoje's first steps into serious involvement in music was his spearheading role in the Vendetta Sound System, in cooperation with his Cousin Donovan Bennett - who is now better known as the chart topping producer and label head Don Corleone. Nevertheless, Protoje is very much his own man, expanding the vintage reggae that his socially conscious music is rooted in with traces dub, rock and whatever touches his ever widening horizon. A tireless performer, this show sees him take to the back country for a show organized by his mother, and featuring Jah9, who is very much his equal when it comes to vocal prowess, even though her own music is a touch more jazzy.
