Back in 1994, when Stephen Malkmus sang "I'm just a boy with a new haircut", backed with a video that showed him and the rest of his band Pavement as goofy as the lines suggested, it seemed like a breath of fresh air in the world of indie rock that was often near suffocated by over-earnestness. Throughout their career, Pavement's music oscillated between the willfully ramshackle and serious musicianship, a sense of quirkiness and brilliant songwriting. After the end of Pavement in 2000, Stephen Malkmus' solo efforts have been somewhat less eclectic, nevertheless covering plenty of ground between psychedelia and rootsy rock. This set sees him and his ever evolving band The Jicks take to Barcelona, live at Primavera Club 2011.
