Moshi Moshi, Brooklyn, NYC
Emerging from Brooklyn via Florida, The Drums were formed by childhood friends Jonny Pierce (singer) and Jacob Graham (synths). The release of their debut ‘Summertime!’ EP on Moshi Moshi in 2009 (featuring the single ‘Let’s Go Surfing’) did not make a huge immediate impact on the global charts, but by the end of that same year, word had spread worldwide and numerous publications and websites were looking to The Drums to lead the way in establishing the indie sound of 2010. The band have since toured around the globe, and after the departure of guitarist Adam Kessler, the band moved from a four-piece line up to a trio, and released their second album ‘Portamento’ just 14 months after their debut. At the rate they’re going you can expect to see them in a city near you very soon.
