If you look for the definition of "Morra" in the RAE dictionary you’ll find that it is the "voice to call a female cat". "Morra" also applies when referring to girls, especially teenage girls. Enter this seductive and explosive show, filled with warm female voices, hip hop and dizzening afrotropitonics. The show starts with rumbling guitars by Mexican stoner rockers Yokozuna, followed by Peruvian post punk from Voz Propia. After the noise, Las Robertas, the loudest girls of Costa Rica, make the diesel surplus blow out! Then comes Ximena Sariñana, setting a romantic tone with a single from her sophomore release; her friend and partner in crime, Argentinian Daniela Spalla sets the mood quietly ablaze with a slice from her debut, 'Magma'. Then we get festive with a classic from Plastilina Mosh (an excursion into reggaetón!) and Chilean hip hop from Elefante Mecánico. This show was baptised after a bastardization by Mexico City’s Tropikal Fever, where they turned nineties dance anthem 'Be My Lover' by La Bouche into a Tropikal tune: they called it 'La Misma Morra'. Finally, we’re glad to start a new section, dedicated to explore the new sounds launched on Mexican netlabel Tropicall, which will be releasing a monthly mixtape through panamerika.fm: here you can listen to a teaser from the set made by the duo Waya Waya. ¡Hey morros! Get romantic, but don’t sit around too long, as this show is also aimed to hook you up with some morras!
