Formed in Glasgow, 1995, Mogwai went on to become one of the most enduring bands of their generation. Influenced by a veritable who's who of indie rock, they first got lumped in with the post rock genre due to their mostly instrumental music, but any such categorization was usually shattered into bits when audiences faced their live sets that took the quiet/loud dynamics into realms of Slint times The Pixies. Their debut album "Young Team" put them firmly on the map, with candid interviews exciting the British music weeklies and John Peel being an early supporter of the band. But past the claims to being the loudest band around, past the "Blur Are Shite" shirts there was a band that constantly evolved, building a musical universe all their own. From their albums to working for movies like Zidane or The Fountain they have crafted music that will outlive any genre classifications. Hardcore will never die, they say, neither will the sound of Mogwai.
