Inside Out - Latin American Edition - Vol 123 - Discos Tormento

Panamérika

Latin America

The year has begun, and the staff at PanamériKa wants the new one to be a wow one. In this session we review the treasurable findings made by Mexico City’s Discos Tormento, and especially their double-sided compilation 'Wow 2010: Familia, Amigos Y Amigos De Amigos'. Narrated by its own curators this program showcases previously unreleased songs by Spain’s Los Punsetes and the Mexican Institute of Sound, plus a rare collaboration between Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and Tony da Gatorra. As Discos Tormento's music quest goes, the compilation (and this session) is filled with both electropop and digi-cumbia. Apart from the Discos Tormento stuff, have you noticed this show’s artwork? We are so delighted to have artist/illustrator Óscar Reyes on our side. Every week he will be dazzling our eyes with his own interpretations of PanamériKa’s universe, from his alter-latino streetwise-kitschy point of view. Enjoy then. And may all have a happy 2011!
