Alex From Tokyo

Tokyo Black Star, Innervisions, NYC

Please welcome Paris born, Tokyo raised and now NYC/Tokyo based international ecclectic DJ and producer Alex from Tokyo. Having lived in Japan more than 20 years since he was a kid, Alex has developed into one of the strongest crossover DJs in Tokyo and for many years has been the pontifex maximus between the Japan scene and the rest of the world, co-ordinating projects for F Communications, Mr.Bongo and Yellow Productions. Over the years Alex hosted nights at clubs such as Yellow, Loop, Air and the now legendary Sunday afternoon sessions 'Gallery' at Cay alongside DJ Nori, Kenji Hasegawa and Fukuba. Between 1992 to 1995 he was an integral part of the developing underground club scene in Paris, hosting the 'A Deep Groove' radio show on Radio FG with DJ Deep and Gregory. Being the cosmopolitian he is, Alex made the move back to Tokyo, worked for Shibuya FM and since then has been going back and forth to NYC. With his studio partner Isao Kumano he records as Tokyo Black Star and they have been doing tracks and remixes for Tony Allen, Hadja Kouyate, Frederic Galliano and DJ Mitsu to name but a few. Furthermore, you can catch their smooth vibes on DJ Deep's label Deeply Rooted House or Dixon's red hot Innervisions series. Prepare for a fantastic voyage.
