In his youth Tom Withers was the drummer, vocalist and songwriter in the perfectly named (and recently reformed) British punk band The Stupids. While in the US in the early 90s he got into the rave scene which prompted him to buy a sampler in '92. Ever since he's been releasing intelligent yet soulful drum'n'bass tracks, first on labels like Certificate 18 and Ninja Tune, later on Soul:r, Metalheadz and his own Commercial Suicide imprint. On that label he's also released tracks by the likes of Amit, Calibre or SKC, never losing the excitement that marked the early days of the scene. This mix comes straight from a Metalheadz night at Cable, London.
