Inside Out - Latin American Edition - Vol 100

Panamérika

Latin America

Happy birthday to PanameriKa, as we have reached our hundreth show! It's been two years now since we started this PanAm race into the musical roads from this side of the world; departing from Mexico City, we've found an intrincate network of highways, dirtroads and trails that connect Buenos Aires with Santiago, Bogota and Havana, New York and Barcelona. We hope that the listeners that have travelled along with us, have developed a taste for latin alternative music, and a glimpse of the immense cultural panorama over here, far removed from the stereotypes that may blind anyone, and fill them with prejudices. We hope to place PanameriKa on the map, and make the word known about our manifold scenes. In the beginning, we were afraid we might not have enough musical content to fill 25 shows... But hear this! The present times are bustling with fresh music. To celebrate this centennial issue, we travelled to the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), in New York: there, we interviewed many up and coming artists, who gently sent some greetings to PanameriKa on this special occasion. Tune in to PanameriKa 100, as we present new music from Calle 13, Hello Seahorse!, El Guincho and The Pinker Tones... Witness a harmonious blend of Indie, HipHop, Electro, AfroBeat, Salsa, Reggaeton, Cumbia, Calypso and Merengue... From the political, to the overtly hedonistic, let's hear it for PanameriKa! Salud for those 100 shows, and for the rest and the best that is still to come. Que viva PanameriKa!
