Main Stage - Live at Melt! Festival 2010

Archie Bronson Outfit

Domino Records, London

Bred in Wiltshire and schooled in Bath, it took a relocation to southwest London for the true colours of Archie Bronson Outfit to be fully appreciated. They were discovered by the president of Domino Records at a gig in his local boozer and were signed to the label by Summer 2003. Their debut album 'Fur' followed, to shouts of acclaim, breathing new life into the tired London blues- and garage-rock scene and a year or two later they made the trip to Nashville, USA to record the follow up, the appropriately titled 'Derdang Derdang'. What set ABO apart from the start, though, that their wild eyed take and psychedlica tinged rock took as many hints from Germany as it took from Nashville from the start. Thus their fuzzy guitars are propelled by krauty disco beats and working with DFA's Tim Goldsworthy (LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Hercules and Love Affair) for their third album seemed like a logical step to take. Recorded partly over the pond again, this time in Michigan and New York (as well as mixing in London), 'Coconut' demonstrates a wildness of musical vision. The record moves from deep-end rock to more beat-driven numbers and has a newfound sonic playfulness to it. This recording caught them live at Melt! 2010.
