Even in tumultuous times for the music industry that have seen the sales gap between big pop productions and independent releases shrink considerably, Foals' debut 'Antidotes' was one of the stranger records to chart at #3 upon release. Formed in Oxford in 2005, Foals started to craft a musical universe where both Gwen Stefani and Steve Reich have room as influences, where the stark poly rhythmic work outs of math rock go hand in hand with traces of funky disco edits. By the time their second album 'Total Life Forever' was released in 2010, they got even closer to this rare feat of creating a unique musical identity based on obviously sprawling record collections. No surprise, then, that their Headphone Highlights show impeccable taste.
