One of the second wave of early bossa nova composers, Marcos has an extraordinary career of over fourty years behind him. The early seventies brought two albums, 'Garra' and 'Vento Sul', both widely-recognised as masterpieces, and from there he's settled into crafting album after album of original material, making him one of the most important and popular performers in the history of Brazilian pop. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1943, Valle studied classically as a child but listened to many different types of music, particularly jazz. Marcos began writing songs with his brother Paulo Sergio, who continues to write lyrics for him. As his reputation for catchy melodies and hooks grew, a recording contract was soon offered, and he released his first album 'Samba Demais' for EMI Brazil. But it was his first release on Verve however that brought him his well-deserved fame, and 'Samba '68' has become a Brazilian musical landmark, thanks to tracks such as 'Batucada' and 'Crickets Sing For Anamaria'. Such a short text can't really do Marcos' career justice, but his back catalogue and the many remixes of his songs speak for themselves. Please welcome Marcos Valle.
