The Canadians Tyger Dhula, Mathew Jonson and Danuel Tate are Cobblestone Jazz. Starting out on the ambitious Itiswhatitis label, where Jonson's first releases like the breath-taking "Typerope EP" where also domiciled, Cobblestone Jazz have developed a style of their own. Releasing on their own Wagon Repair outfit and on K7!, the unique trio uses early computers and analogue instruments to create pared down sounds that retain the quality of improvisational Jazz but with a Techno dancefloor aesthetic. Through a real-time exchange of musical form, language, and ideas, provide a continual sense of excitement and discovery for their audience. Sounds a bit academic written sound, but is the most splendid aural pleasure between Techno and Jazz you are most likely to encouter these days, just hear for yourselves with this set from Solyanka in Moscow. Like Juan said: Jazz is the teacher!
