Vincent Williams aka DJ Spinna is something of an anomaly in music. A humbling example of what it takes to truly succeed within the framework of multiple fields: a steadfast work ethic, an obsessively extensive vinyl library and the willingness to pursue the full extents of his roots (funk, soul and jazz), foundation (hip hop) and future (electronic dance music) with no restraints. He's been a cornerstone of hip hop's late 90's indie-uprise with his group The Jigmastas and label Beyond Real, and provided the canvas for an array of that era's lyrical giants including Mos Def, Talib Kweli or Pharoahe Monch. Collaborations with Brand Nubian's Sadat X & Grand Puba, Masta Ace and Guru to even The Jungle Brothers followed, as well as an impressive string of remixes, including works for Mary J Blige, Michael Jackson, De La Soul, Platinum Pied Pipers, Les Nubians and Zero 7 to name a few. The remix that really catapulted Spinna into his now stately, touted presence in the dance music scene, was his version of Shawn Escoffery's 'Days Like This'. A timeless piece of soulful Dance Music and without a doubt on of the biggest House records in recent years. He released a landmark solo album on BBE Records in 2004, the cosmic Funk, 80's synth-driven 'Intergalactic Soul' LP in 2006 and founded his own imprint Wonder Wax, featuring the soulful sounds of Rich Medina, Lady Alma, Blaze, The Free Radikalz and Selan. On the DJ side Spinna is a true globetrotter and has played everywhere from Iceland to Japan. Yet nothing compares to his celebrated Stevie Wonder inspired WONDER-Full tribute sessions alongside Bobbito Garcia, garnering overwhelming fanfare everywhere.
