Armed with nothing but a laptop and a Fender jazz bass, Moises Horta Valenzuela explores the psychology of a disjointed megalopolis, creating ambient IDM and shoegaze electronics under his Kixly moniker. As Los Macuanos however, he pays tribute to the rich musical heritage of the Americas, especially Mexico. Drawing influences from cumbia sonidera, duranguense and narcocorridos, as well as the regional techno derivate Nortec, this audio engineering student and former post-punk bassist captures the spirit of Tijuana's underbelly with his hypnotic, filthy dance tracks.
