When it comes to pushing things forward in an all-too-often sedate music industry, the CV of Eothen Alapatt aka Egon is just as deep as his crates are. After moving from his hometown of New Haven, Connecticut to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his studies in Philosophy, this certified record junkie set up a college radio show with fellow beat head Count Bass D, broke down the higher academics of breakbeat culture as a scribe for magazines such as i-D and Wax Poetics, and eventually hooked up with Stones Throw's Peanut Butter Wolf to become an A&R and help define the profile of what is now one of the last true staples in independent hip hop. On top of all that, he runs his own satellite label Now-Again, focusing on re-issues and, more recently, some brand new retro ish by bands like Connie Price & The Keystones or Karl Hector & The Malcouns.
