An originator of the Dubstep sound, DJ Distance has been involved since the genres inception and has produced tracks with the rest of the hardcore team including Skream, Benga and Pinch. His background deviates from the norm however, which makes his take on the D-word quite a different experience. His main influences include the likes of Sepultura, Pantera and Korn, making him a heavy metal fan with a penchant for the experimental industrial. Gathering early support from the legendary John Peel secured him guest list tickets to the party and he soon became a regular at the seminal raves such as FWD and DMZ to name but two. His DJ bookings have since taken him worldwide where he devastates dance floors and sound systems in his own inimitable style. His recorded output is equally formidable and he has released on labels as seminal as Hotflush, Tectonic and Boka. He rests now on Planet Mu, where he released his debut long-player in 2007. It seems inconceivable to marry the binary opposites of heavy metal, industrial rock, dub, reggae and techno, but somehow DJ Distance does just that.
