Harmonic 33 pres. Really Strange Music - Volume 3

Mark Pritchard

Troubleman, Harmonic 313, Sydney

Electronic music pioneer Mark Pritchard has been pushing styles forward since his early days with Tom Middleton and their Evolution label. Natural selectors, anyone? When we say uncompromising, it’s the notion of experimentation in the face of convention that lies at the heart of Mark’s music, whether he’s recording with Tom under the guise of Global Communication or Jedi Knights, or solo as Reload, Harmonic 33, Troubleman or Use of Weapons. Inspired by the way Detroit producers coaxed the Soul out of their drum machines and analogue synths, Mark has been forging paths not just in styles of music, but also in music business, taking the rebel music ethos of groups like Underground Resistance and operating a DIY approach under the mainstream radar. Aside from his LPs and various projects, Mark has also contributed to a sugarloaf of remixes for the likes of The Orb, Lamb, Azymuth, and KRS-1. For all the changing styles and labels, there is an enduring lesson that Mark has learnt. “I always try to be honest with what I do and just make music from my heart. It's definitely been really hard to make it in the music industry - lots of ups and downs - but you've just got to keep pushing on. Just keep doing what you believe in and you'll get some breaks. You'll get the payoff eventually, so don't give up.” This honesty clearly inspires Mark’s mixes. Be prepared for a show that moves body, mind, and soul.
