Ladies and gentleman, the sound from New Zealand. Live and direct from the infamous live sessions at Auckland's Red Bull Studio. Catch a wide range of musicians, styles and jam sessions - all performed with love from the onward paradise. This edition comes chock-full of indie goodness, starting out with Clap Clap Riot, one of the most hotly tipped NZ indie-rock bands of recent years. Hot on their heels we have heavy garage veterans (merely referring to years in action, not to faltering powers, that is) The Datsuns who arrived at the studios in fine form indeed. Next up we have Pacific Heights, the solo outfit of Davine Abrams of Christchurch's Drum'n'Bass crew Shapeshifter. Pacific Heights takes things down quite a few BPM, though, presenting a spirited take on the worlds of soul and hip hop. Next up is Connan Mockasin, an ex-pat currently living in London but dropping by in Auckland for long enough to sprinkle some psychedelic-pop-drenched fairy dust around the live rooms. And, finally, topping things off, we present another ex-pat at the mic, Pip Brown of Ladyhawke fame, whose carrer has brought ample proof that the simple joy of some big, tuneful noise can take you a long way. WHich, all things considered, works pretty well for this edition of Sounds Pacific, too.
