Japan's tradition of talented beatmakers and DJs has been boosted somewhat by the world renowned DJ Mitsu The Beats, the alias of the diminutive yet masterly Sendai City native, who first stormed all the important charts a few years ago with his debut solo long player 'A New Awakening'. He signed to the ground breaking Jazzy Sport label in Japan and soon found himself followers in the likes of Pete Rock, Gilles Peterson and DJ Spinna. Remixes of his first album were abound, from the likes of Sa Ra, Metaphor and Rich Medina amongst numerous others. Not above the odd remix and production duty himself, his reworkings of tracks from Jazzy Jeff, Madlib and Kero One are to be admired too. Here's you can catch him live in the mix at the The Room in Tokyo!
