MRK1 is a one man Mancunian sonic wrecking ball and an early pioneer of the dubstep sound. It all began as Mark Foster started making drum'n'bass towards the turn of the new millennium, switched to Grime and from there developed his sound that would help to shape the early creation of the future sonics known as dubstep today. Responsible for some of the genres first releases and lucky enough to put out a number of defining records alongside such key labels as Tempa, Planet Mu and even Aphex Twin's Rephlex, MRK1 has worked with people like Plastician, Slaughter Mob or his Virus Syndicate project. After setting up his his own label Contagious, the man from Manchester continues to travel the world with his love for low end frequencies, bass heavy tings and releasing compilations like Sound Of Contagious that features some of the label highlights . A contagious sound indeed.
