A severe earthquake struck the Chilean nation, the past Saturday February 27th. Supportive messages from all over the World have been crucial to re-establish the moral and put the population back on its feet. So, in order to raise the spirit, PanameriKa recounts some of the defining moments of Chilean music. From the protest songs of the early seventies, to the neo-folk of the noughts, we visit as many expressions in popular Chilean music, as possible: the legendary Los Prisioneros are here, sharing space with new comer youngster band, Astro. Anita Tijoux represents hip hop, while Javiera Mena dares to make a classy sofisty-pop. Latin Bitman shakes things up while Senor Coconut mocks Kraftwerk with tropical corrosion. So this is not an ode to sandez: As Neruda the poet said: "Life is only what is done". Viva Chile, mierda
