Swizz beat pioneer Dimlite is a musician who says about himself that he develops and tries to be a peaceful person. Dim has developed a formidable reputation as a live performer, mashing samples and chords together in his perfectly logic-stretching way. His two LPs Runbox Weathers and This Is Embracing for Sonar Kollektiv, as well as numerous tracks appearing on labels like Rush Hour's Beat Dimensions, All City, Plug Research, Warp and Dublab, have won him legions of fans, seduced by his densely layered soundscapes and weighty production values. Recently Dimlite has completed a mini LP Prismic Tops for the Now-Again label run by Stones Throw's Egon, with tracks like Kalimba Deathswamp seeing Dim going deeper than ever into his own musical universe. A forerunners of the beat generation and inspiration to people like Flying Lotus and Hudson Mohawke, the true legacy of Dim's music has yet to be truly evaluated. Strike a light!
