Operating in the same realms as masters from the past like Ron Hardy, Frank Timm treads a path where disco and house intertwine. Hardy is a crucial influence since the Chicago legend was famed for his ability to induce crowds into hypnotic states with the repetition of edited grooves and his steady build. Timm explores the same approach: a less-is-more mentality manifests in his production work and in the sparse amount of music he releases, refusing to sacrifice quality for commercial sake. Working with MMM's Errorsmith under the Smith n Hack guise the duo's remix of Villalobos' Easy Lee is evidence of their energised re-treatments. Releasing his own harder-edged tracks as Soundhack, whatever the alias this Berliner always focuses his love for loops and stimulating monotony on engaging those jacking on the dancefloor. This DJ set was recorded at a recent RBMA session at London's Secretsundaze.
