These guys take their gear seriously. Piecing together a signal path from components around the world, the Mode are made up of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, and reduce a collage of sounds into heavy energetic electro party music like little else. From illegal underground acid house parties to sound installations at the Pompidou Centre, they're known for inventive rhythms and dynamic drum patterns, crossing a range of BPMs. Teaming up with errant producer and Shitkatapult label crew Apparat, they form Moderat, who have redefined their techno love affair into a series of releases on Bpitch Control, while also collaborating with visual artist Pfadfinderei to make the multimedia mutant Pfadselektor. Their broad appeal has led to opening for Radiohead and featuring on compilations from Renaissance to Rinse FM, while bumrushing German pop charts with their collaboration with rappers Fettes Brot. Currently putting the finishing touches to their new album and kick-starting their own label Monkeytown Records, 2010 looks like another promising year for these world-travelling Berliners. Re-e-wind when the crowd say 'Modeselektor'!
