Hasan Hujairi feels that making music is similar to writing a story: and his tale is one with many chapters (an English Literature professor originally inspired him to explore his passion). He has studied classical guitar in Bahrain and the United States, and learned the floating-bridge oud under Iraqi virtuoso Saad Mahmoud Jawad. A coveted scholarship from the Japanese government led him to delve into the maritime history of the Persian Gulf, while interning at Tokyo recording studios and playing at spots like the Imperial Hotel and NHK Broadcasting Museum. Now residing in Exeter after having lived in Bahrain for another couple of years, his latest album project incorporates field recordings made on cassette recorders - spiced up with tube effects. And he's also working on his second novel. Hear him present some of the landmark tracks from along the way in this here show.
