Train Wreck Mix - Bric Brac Mix

Julien Dyne

BBE, New Zealand

Multi-faceted is Julien Dyne's middle name. Well, it isn't but it should be, as he encompasses the roles of drummer, producer and visual artist with significant success. We at the Academy, would also like to give ourselves a little pat on the back and everyone else a smug look, because we noticed his prowess back in 2004, when he was selected as a participant for our Rome edition. Since then he has left his New Zealand homeland and been working with artists all over the globe, including two weeks that he spent in Cologne in 2007, where he recorded, collaborated and co-produced with various legendary musicians and producers including the Mizell Brothers, Om'mas Keith, Steve Spacek and Mark Pritchard. His long awaited debut album release introduced Julien as a skilled producer and served as a platform for him to show off those facets we mentioned. His sound is difficult to pin down, as it encompasses hip hop and funk, afrobeat and jazz and on it he collaborates with musicians from across the spectrum including John Crayford, Paul Dyne, John Bell and Isaac Aesili. But why don't you just judge (and marvel at) his unique skills yourself in his Trainwreck mix?
