Buraka Som Sistema, Enchufada, Fabric, Lisbon

Academy alumnus Joao Barbosa aka Lil John aka J-Wow is the producer for Lisbon outfit Buraka Som Sistema: the missing link between baile funk, breakbeat and Baltimore style bass. Their second album Black Diamond on Modular Records was a showcase for the Angolan-Portuguese movement of kuduro riddims, for which they've led the charge (and received an MTV Europe Music Award). Meanwhile they've collaborated with rave activist M.I.A. and stolen the scene at stages from Coachella to Sonar, Notting Hill Carnival and beyond.
