Mooken describes his sound as 1940's hip hop ragga, but that's probably just to mislead you. This cheeky northerner's DJ sets run the gamut of everything whimsical, atmospheric and clever, from Raymond Scott and Ryoji Ikeda to classic library music or DJ Dexter. Picking up some key tips interning for Radio 1's Gilles Peterson and Mary Anne Hobbs, he's worked on mixtapes on the ono label and will soon be dropping boogie cuts on Ruf Dug's Ruf Kutz label. Here's his set from the Red Bull Music Academy 2010's Manchester arm, where he played the closing set at the Deaf Institute's Main Bar. Fun times!
