Listening to Slugabed tracks it's easy to imagine him sitting in his Brighton bedroom, giggling as he mangles his Fruityloops to squash the basslines to a tasty pulp. Thrown into all kinds of camps from wonky to skwee by bloggers around the world, he doesn't seem to care much about fitting any kind of bill. His use of samples, it seems, is not a conscious tip of the hat to a hip hop past, it's more that, you know, he likes to mess around with samples. As he likes to say: The best things often come out of messing about. With releases on Numbers, Ramp and Planet Mu (to name a few), his discography is as all over the place as his musical approach and his messing about has also won him residencies with parties like Donky Pitch in Brighton or Them in London.
