Guilty Simpson has been a corner stone of Detroit hip hop for time, blowing speakers alongside those such as J Dilla, Slum Village, Phat Kat, Black Milk and even Eminem and D12. Guilty teamed up with Dilla back in 2001, while a member of the Almighty Dreadnaughtz, and laid down his first verses to tape on what would become the Jaylib LP. Having pitched camp with Stones Throw records, a couple of appearances on the Chrome Children volumes have laid the foundations for Guilty's debut solo LP 'Ode To the Ghetto'. Rugged, raw and real - it's an antidote to plastic MCs everywhere, without even having to make that statement explicit. MED like Medaphor is another purveyor of explicit lyricism. Also part of the mighty Stones Throw family, the west coast MC already released some all-time heavyweight flavour with 'Push' and especially its LP-extension 'Push Comes To Shove'.
