Surviving their fair share of ups and downs, including losing two original band members and two record deals, the English rock band Swervedriver managed to stay intact, recording four albums since forming in 1989. Their music is often described as a cross between British shoegazers like Ride, Lush, and My Bloody Valentine, and Motor City rock and roll classics like the Stooges and the MC5. Small wonder, since Swervedriver formed from the ashes of Shake appeal, who had formed in 1984 as acolytes of Detroit rock swagger, recording a single called 'Gimme Fever' in 1988. Swervedriver got off to a rather impressive start, releasing a series of successful singles and a debut long player on Creation: 'Raise' followed by a U.S. tour in support of Soundgarden. Another change of staff and then 1992's Never Lose That Feeling EP surfaced, their strongest effort to date. After some record label wranglings resulting in several releases unfortunately forgotton in the midst like lost treasure, Swervedriver are back and touring with a vengeance. Not to mention chatting by the fireside with us of course.
