Tony Rodriguez alias Brothers' Vibe was born in Newark, NJ. Influenced in his early childhood by music due to the daily exposure from family members, his love and appreciation of the art intensified throughout his life. Tony's father Vincent was a record collector and exposed the family to many old school Latin classics from artists like Tito Puente, Willie Colon, Eddie Palmieri, and many, many more. Tony began collecting 7" records himself and would listen to them for hours memorizing the artist's names, label info, beats and breaks on each. In the mid seventies with the introduction of the 12", Tony's collection started to grow even more and his involvement in the then thriving disco industry began as time went on: he gigged frequently and got into retail record sales working for various record stores, worked as a Billboard reporter and assistant record pool director and played at legendary clubs such as The NY Palladium, Studio 54, Club 1018, The Tunnel, The Limelight, and Club 4D. In the mid eighties, with a heavy schedule playing out 5 days a week at times, Tony felt the burning desire to write and produce music. Back then New Jersey was an exciting place for that. People like Tony Humphries, Tee Scott, Larry Patterson or Hippie Torales made Newark's Club Zanzibar the worthy opposite hand to Manhattan's Paradise Garage, labels like Movin' Records placed Jersey artists firmly on the map and a special brand of gospel-influenced songs backed up with bass-heavy dubs brought the Garden State to fame in the brave new world of house music. After first steps with Craig Bevan and Barry Zeger of Bassment Records and a couple of cool tracks with projects like 2 Men From Jersey or Turntable Terror Trax, Rodriguez started Brothers' Vibe Productions and has been keeping busy in the studio since. Though deeply rooted in the Afro-Latin tribal house sound, the range of Brothers' Vibe includes some filthy disco beats, minimal house gems or jazzy house vibes and counts DJ heavyweights Derrick May, Tony Humphries, Timmy Regisford, Luciano, Loco Dice, Dan Bell, Ricardo Villalobos amongst his fans, bridging the gap between classic soulful house and the post-minimalism from Europe. We are all brothers.
