Octave One is the brainchild of the phenomenal native sons of Detroit, the Burden Brothers who are crowned with the reputation of being co-founders of the monumental Detroit techno scene. They have released groundbreaking underground dance anthems and dreamy technosoul classics on Derrick May's Transmat label and their own label, 430 West Records including Random Noise Generation's 'Falling In Dub' (the other Burden brothers moniker), releases from Aux 88, UR's Mad Mike, DJ Rolando, Terrence Parker and Eddie Flashin Fowkles, as well as their own Octave One releases. The year 2000 brought the biggest Octave One record to date, 'Blackwater' and the track has now appeared on over seventy compilation albums worldwide. The Burden Brothers have also worked with a bunch of techno legends including Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills amongst many others and recent years have brought about several albums, most recently 2008's 'Summers On Jupiter'. We sat down with Laurence and Lenny by the fireside, and the two enthusiastically looked back on an impressive career and countless great records.
