!!! (or 'chk chk chk' if you need it spelled out) exploded onto the rather unsuspecting scene with the mighty 'Me And Guilani Down By The Schoolyard' single, effortlessly combining discoish beats with tasty basses, psychedelic guitars and a sense of abandon that took as much from dance driven ecstasy as it did from punk performers like, say, Iggy Pop. But you have to give credit to a band that didn't fall for trying to fulfill dance-punk expectations, instead choosing ever new ways to create music that mirrors there love for James Brown and Sonic Youth, their ideas of house music and 70s dub, - or whatever else comes to their minds during the extended jam sessions that spawn their songs. Their powerful live shows are the stuff of legend, so it doesn't come as a surprise that they choose to road-test any material before they commit it to record. This Fireside Chat catches them on a tour during the recording process for the follow up to 2007's 'Myth Takes'.
