Soul has many forms and the Dollis Hill duo has come a long way. Marc Mac and Dego have been right at the front position as techno and house in the UK turned into breakbeat, hardcore, jungle and eventually drum'n'bass. As 4hero and with their seminal label Reinforced, they are responsible for groundbreaking tunes like 'Mr. Kirk's Nightmare', gave Goldie's Rufige Cru a home, put out the golden Nookie platters, always kept going forward and thinking out of the box. Their 'Parallel Universe' LP is widely regarded as the genre's first artist album and paved the way for their jazz, funk and soul influenced MOBO award winning classic 'Two Pages' - released on Gilles Peterson's Talkin' Loud. At a time, when drum'n'bass became too rigid for them, 4hero went on to extend that approach and found themselves dealing with hip hop, futuristic soul and broken beat with Dego's influential 2000 Black label or Marc Mac's highly regarded Visioneers outfit. More recently the duo founded the Raw Canvas label releasing their latest 4hero album 'Play With The Changes' as well as remix collection including some of their finest interpretations for the likes of NuYorican Soul, Courtney Pine and Ultra Nate. During their appearance at the Berlin's Music Days they went back - way back - into the early days of the hardcore continuum.
