Firmly based in the singer songwriter tradition, Lizzy Parks got her first break when she studied Jazz in Birmingham where she met sax player Chris Bowden. He promptly invited her to sing on his Ninja Tune released 'Slightly Askew' album. However, it wasn't until she worked with Nostalgia 77 that she found her true musical home around the Tru Thoughts label. The Nostalgia 77 produced debut on the label, 'Raise The Roof', took her soulful take on jazz right into the top lists of tastemakers from Laurent Garnier to Gilles Peterson. She quickly followed up with 'This And That', a folky acoustic album that proved her unique voice shines through in all kinds of settings. From her days singing with her high school big band in Devon to performing at Glastonbury or at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall she never lost her down to earth urge to share the music she finds and comes up with.
