Ever since releasing the self-titled Lusine debut on Isophlux at the tail end of the nineties, Jeff McIlwain has perfected a strain of electronic music that is as abstract as it is warmly welcoming. After tracks, albums and remixes on labels like Mute, Kompakt, Shitkatapult and Hymen, his 2009 return to Ghostly International, 'Language Barrier', focused on the welcoming aspects of his music like no release before - at times, and especially when he makes use of Vilja Larjostos vocals, he gets downright poppy. Accordingly, this Headphone Highlights show ranges from the avantgarde to folky tunes, from abstract electronica to classic songwriting. Music, we're sure, that'll feel right at home in your headphones, too.
