You might know Academy team player David Nerattini from his various sessions at the Academy interviewing the likes of Bernard Purdie, or as editor-in-chief of the legendary Italian diggers' almanack Superfly, with his continuing series of Red Bull Music Academy Radio shows under the name Extrafly. But while he's been actively advocating the great and the good in music, he's also been on the drum kit supplying the driving force behind some of Rome's most notable funk bands, as well as a loose group of Roman musicians called Intellectual Hardcore. I.H.C. take their inspiration from '70s era Miles Davis, fusing jazz elements with funk, psychedelia, and afro-latin rhythms. Apart from a live show they cut to tape, they've never recorded... until now! For a new live project - a tribute to the great cosmic jazz composer, keys player, and band leader Sun Ra - they booked some time at the historical Trafalgar studio in Rome (home to some of the most notable recordings from the Horo catalogue), and recorded a session.
