For his first two albums, from 2001's 'At The Party' to 'Before The Dawn Heals Us', M83's Anthony Gonzales piled ob Tangerine Dreamy synths, shoegazing walls of guitars and ample helpings of reverb to create an updated soundtrack to 'Teen Angst' as previously soundtracked by bands like The Cure. Beneath the washes of sound, it seemed, lurked memories of a youth spent on the dark side of the moon. Later, he released something close to a party record with 'Saturday=Youth' for 'Saturday is definitely the coolest day of the week for a teenager and that's the reason Saturday is in the title.' Apparently, Gonzales really liked being a teenager, discovering parties, drugs and music. From there on, his ambitions got even wider in scope. Relocating to Los Angeles, he teamed up with frequent Beck and NIN collaborator Justin Meldal-Johnsen for the grandiosely baroque 'Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming', and it seems that he has left behind any restraints, allowing himself to fulfill all the ambitious futurism he could muster. This set was recorded live at Ireland's Oxegen Festival in 2009.
