October 27, 2008 saw the historic release of the first-ever Norwegian language pop single in the UK from the afro-beat, techno and out-and-out pop inspired Casio Kids. Not just an electronic act, Casio Kids are also a shadow puppet group and the music they herald ranges from childish and naive to darker, harder grooves, though addictive melodies also play an important role in their melting pot of improvisation and absurdness. The samples being taken from Norwegian radio shows for children, cassette-books about Africa, and interviews with young communist activists. Since their inception in 2005 they have experienced everything from playing for hundreds of Norwegian youngsters on a 12-date kindergarten tour in Norway to promote their first album to spending time exploring afro-beat with Fela Kuti's family in Nigeria to playing for more or less grown up indie and electro kids all over Europe to DJs playing numerous festivals worldwide.
