When The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart first hit the scene they conjured images of Stephen Pastel of the very great Pastels actually throwing Aggi off the bridge and marrying Black Tambourine's Pam Berry resulting in four babies that formed a pop band. Shaped by growing up in American suburbia and finding inspiration in the international network of indiepop labels and artists from Sweden to Scotland to Popfests all around the USA. however, their sense for blissful melodies, blistering sounds and blink-or-you-missed-it sense of lyrical wits has taken them beyond the confines of the scene. Well aware that adolescent wide eyed innocence is often anything but, and armed with an unstoppable enthusiasm for music, this is one band to watch as they grow up and further away from their suburban past and their NYC present. Up for a bit!
