Heiko M/S/O

Playhouse, Klang, Ongaku, Frankfurt

After several self-hosted parties, the DJ career of Heiko M/S/O starts in 1990 as a sales assistant at Boy Records in Frankfurt. This is followed by a job at the Frankfurt-based label Cyclotron Records, a change to the infamous Delirium Record store and his first resident DJ job at Frankfurt's PLASTIK club. Being in the eye of the Frankfurt techno for the next decade, Heiko produced the cult record 'Mihon' under the moniker Ongaku on the Pod Communication label together with his long term partner Ata and Atom Heart in 1992. Shortly after, Ata and Heiko took the ball and named their label Ongaku Musik with Klang Elektronik and Playhouse as sublabels and a whole bunch of wonderful records by people like Alter Ego, Don Disco / Losoul, Isole, Blaze and tons of other quality gems. Since then, Playhouse and Klang has become one of the most prolific and important record labels on the planet. We are not kidding you. Heiko's work for the label went along very well with his DJ-jobs around the world and his mammoth residencies at places like the 'Wild Pitch Club' or the current Playhouse channel 'Robert Johnson'. Heiko's musical roots lie in soul and funk, disco and Chicago house, but also in reduced and original Detroit techno. Take a look at his collection of vintage Chicago drum sounds with this Tribute mix to the Windy City.
