WhoMadeWho may lack a question mark after their name but their music will certainly have you asking after them. Why do they dress up in skeleton suits when they play live? Why does a band supposedly known for disco punk start their second album with an outbreak of ominous sounding woodwind? And why do they fill their most breezy pop moments with Teutonic synths? The only answer that we can be sure of is that WhoMadeWho are on a mission to eschew convention. The disco punk trio are made up of falsetto voiced bassist Tomas Hoffding who rose from the Scandinavian rock underground, singer songwriter/guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg from the avant garde jazz scene (with beard to match), and drummer Tomas Barford - who also records as Tomboy - a rising star of electronic music. With a flurry of singles and three albums behind them on the Bavarian Gomma label, they are a pretty memorable live act, playing alongside such gender bending peers as Daft Punk, Soulwax and Hot Chip. Encompassing 60's psychedelia, 70's stoner rock, 80's mutant disco and 90's electronica resulting in their mutant sound of now, WhoMadeWho take us on a trip through WhoMadeThem.
