Finian Greenhall, otherwise known as Fink has made the unlikely musical journey from being an ambient techno trip hop artist to a serious singer/songwriter in less than a decade. Born in Bristol, England, Greenhall was obsessed with guitar as a teenager, eagerly exploring the indie scene. Then he discovered raving, and the guitars went out the window as he immersed himself completely in ambient techno. After recording an album with Lee Jones that was eventually released under the name EVA on Kickin' Records in 1995, Ninja Tune Records signed Fink as a solo artist and released a pair of EPs: Finkfunk and Front Side Blunt Side followed shortly by his first long player. But before long Fink had rekindled his guitar obsession and by the time his acoustic release, the remarkably titled Biscuits for Breakfast (again on Ninja) was announced in 2006 he had made the full transformation from ambient raver to fully fledged folkie. A self-confessed 'product of the modern age' of listening, its no great surprise that his Headphone Highlights selection displays some very eclectic taste!
